Welcome to the Rag Waste Collective.

The Rag Waste Collective is a social enterprise working in the East Midlands and areas of India. The project aims to empower women from some of the poorest and most isolated communites by offering creative upcycling projects. We use waste textiles that are destined for landfill and teach people in rural community groups different ways to upcycle the textiles into reusable products. These products are then sold through our online shop as well as at various events and local shops. Proceeds from these items are reinvested back into the community groups.

Communites that are engaged in the project benefit from a sense of community cohesion as well as learning new skills. The Rag Waste Collective has a clear ethical charter that outlines how the proceeds are reinvested.

You can use the link on the left to subscribe to our newsletter. We will send a newsletter out when we have some new information about our exciting project, and we promise that we will not use your email address for anything else, nor will we pass your details on to anyone else!

Just one of the ways that waste is recycled in India. The Ragwaste Collective will be working with the Dharavi Project in Mumbai to offer some alternative solutions for the ragpickers of the Dharavi slums to achieve a fairer wage through the trade of upcycled items.
